Gemensamt postseminarum följer på eftermiddagens tre seminarier.
För att fira våra gemensamma intressen – men kanske också för att smälta intrycken från denna intensiva eftermiddag – är alla som önskar välkomna att ansluta till ett gemensamt post-seminarium på restaurang (på egen bekostnad). Meddela gärna om du vill delta på post-seminariet till sofia.strombergsson@ki.se (senast 24/5), så att tillräckligt antal bord kan bokas.

Abstract
Language changes include both gradual phonetic changes and morphosyntactic changes, such as replacement of irregular past tense forms in English by forms ending in the suffix -ed. These processes differ in some ways, but they share a common cognitive foundation in the mechanisms that people use to learn, perceive, and produce words. In this talk, I will review several experimental and computational projects that make a connection between lexical processing and language change. In particular, I will be interested in results on differences amongst individuals, because synchronic variation within the speech community provides a foundation for change over time. I will also be interested in the fates over time of individual words, because they provide evidence about how words are stored in the mind and compete with each other during lexical processing.

Hjärtligt välkomna!
