I will describe some completed, ongoing and planned investigations of children’s perception of their own recorded speech. One track of my work so far concerns children’s ability to recognize their recorded speech as their own, in children with typical speech and language development, as well as in children with deviant speech. A parallel track is dedicated to the development of a method for automatic and immediate modification of recorded speech, which allows automatic correction of recordings of children’s deviant speech. I will demonstrate the modification technique, and describe the perceptual experiments where it is employed.
