The seminar will focus on how electroencephalography (EEG) can be used in linguistic research. EEG is a method for measuring voltage fluctuations stemming from brain activity by placing electrodes at the surface of the head. First, I will present a series of studies on the processing of prosodic features typical of Swedish, as well as their interaction with syntactic and morphological processing. After that, I will show an experiment using EEG traces of subvocal prosody during reading to investigate time-restrictions on verbal working memory.
