Seminariet är ett halvtidsseminarium baserat på David Pagmars avhandlingsarbete. Postseminarium följer direkt efter seminariet i institutionens pentry.

The seminar will revolve around the first two studies from the upcoming thesis Acquiring Form and Function. The aim of the thesis is to investigate the relationship between pragmatic development and other developmental features. In the first study, we examined children's comprehension of scalar implicatures and the relationship between vocabulary and scalar implicature calculations (Pagmar, Gerholm, & Dahl, submitted). The second study concerned the modeling and evaluation of several hierarchal models of pragmatic development, where a broad battery of social and linguistic variables was held as predictive for specific pragmatic competencies (Pagmar, in prep). The dependent variables will be presented in detail, together with a rationale for each of the models. Lastly, an outline for upcoming studies will be presented.
