Since the start in the 1970’s research on Swedish Sign Language has mainly focused on describing the structure of the language. There has also been some research how deaf children acquire sign language, as well as how they learn written/spoken language. We are also working on a data base for a digital dictionary of Swedish Sign Language, which is published on the Internet. In addition to research carried out by the staff our students also work on independent projects as part of their studies (cf. ‘Theses’).
