Okan Kubus is a PhD student at the Institute of German Sign Language and Communication of the Deaf (Institut für Deutsche Gebärdensprache und Kommunikation Gehörloser), and works as a project leader for the German Society of the Hearing-Impaired - Support Groups and Professional Associations. He is currently working on his doctoral dissertation for his doctoral degree in sign linguistics, which focuses on relativization strategies in Turkish Sign Language (Türk İşaret Dili - TİD). He received his M.Sc. degree in Cognitive Sciences, Informatics Institute, Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey in 2008, investigated the phonology and morphology of TİD. He is interested in the development of Sign Language assessment for sign language learners. In addition, his research includes sign language acquisition and reading skills in deaf and hard of hearing people.

Research interests: Sign linguistics, Deaf Studies, Sign Language Interpreting, Psycholinguistics of sign language and Bimodal-Bilingualism.
