Computers in the Phonetics Lab are equipped with special phonetic software applications. Here we have listed a selection of software that is used in our research.
Experiment design and analysis software
E-Prime is a suite of applications for computerized experiments that provides a easy-to-use environment for computerized experiment design, data collection, and analysis. E-Prime home page
Excel (Microsoft Office Excel) is a spreadsheet application that features calculation, graphing tools, pivot tables and a macro programming language called VBA (Visual Basic for Applications).
LabView is a graphical programming environment used to develop sophisticated measurement, test, and control systems using intuitive graphical icons and wires that resemble a flowchart. LabView home page
Mathematica is a computational software program typically used in scientific, engineering, and mathematical fields and other areas of technical computing. Mathematica home page
MatLab s a numerical computing environment and programming language. MATLAB allows matrix manipulations, plotting of functions and data, implementation of algorithms, creation of user interfaces, and interfacing with programs written in other languages, including C, C++, and Fortran. PHP/html Server-side HTML embedded scripting language, providing a full suite of tools for building dynamic websites.
SPSS is a computer program used for statistical analysis.

Osiris is portable and expandable software for interactive display and manipulation of medical images from different imaging modalities.

ESPS/waves: Entropic Signal Processing System and waves+: ESPS is a C-language software package designed for use in a UNIX network environment. It has user-level programs and libraries for data handling and signal processing. Waves+ is a tool suite for viewing, analysing, and labelling speech data.
