Third level Education (up to a doctoral degree, PhD)
The Department of Linguistics at Stockholm University organizes Ph.D. programmes in General Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Phonetics, Sign Language and Swedish as a second language for the deaf.
The general entrance requirement for these programmes is a Masters degree or the equivalent in the respective subject. All Ph.D. programmes take four years.
According to national regulations, enrolment in a Ph.D. programme presupposes that the financing is settled for the whole period of study. Candidates who do not obtain financial support from the university can only be accepted if they present a financing plan for the four years of study.
See also the Special Doctoral Programme in Language Sciences, FoSprak, where Linguistics is one of the specialisations.
